Growing up on a small farm in rural Alabama provided the perfect environment for me to explore my love of nature through art. As a child, I delighted in drawing farm animals and the various other creatures which would wander into our yard. Progressing from crayons to paintbrushes, I continued to pursue art as a hobby until I left home for college. The practical side of me guided me to a career in pharmacy, and for fifteen years my paintbrushes lay idle. Since moving to Boston with my husband four years ago, I have traded in my lab coat for paint brushes and am once again focusing on my creative side.
Nature continues to inspire my paintings. The creatures and landscapes I come in contact with daily in my neighborhood, whether in my own garden or in the park areas along my jogging path, provide a boundless source of creative inspiration. My most recent works include a series of paintings depicting wildlife living in the yards, gardens, and parks of my Brookline neighborhood.
